ADO Den Haag manager Zeljko Petrovic has ruled out a departure for Leeds United linked Tom Beugelsdijk.
As quoted by Dutch outlet Omroepwest, ADO Den Haag manager Zeljko Petrovic has insisted that Tom Beugelsdijk will be staying put in the Netherlands this summer.
Leeds United have endured a terrible start to the Championship campaign so far and one of the main reasons behind the Whites’ struggles has been their poor defensive performances.
Leeds have already conceded nine goals in just five matches and manager Garry Monk would most certainly not have been left impressed by his side’s displays at the back.
Therefore, Leeds are unsurprisingly keen on signing a new defender before the end of the summer transfer window and recently, the Daily Mail had claimed that the Championship outfit were monitoring ADO Den Haag centre-back Tom Beugelsdijk.
The report stated that Leeds had scouted Beugelsdijk during Den Haag’s 2-1 victory over Excelsior a couple of weeks ago and that the Championship side were considering a move for the towering defender.
As a huge blow to Leeds’ hopes of signing Beugelsdijk though, Den Haag manager Zeljko Petrovic has ruled out any possibility of the 24-year-old leaving the Kyocera Stadium this summer.
Petrovic was quoted saying by the Omroepwest, “Tommie remains one hundred percent. I find it almost impossible (that he leaves).
“He’s become a player of the week, perhaps player of the month and possibly player of the year here in The Hague. He is the cult hero here. I do not think it will happen. Tom would like to stay another year.”
Leeds United will be squaring off against leaders Huddersfield Town in their upcoming Championship game following the international break and Monk will be desperate to claim a positive result from the encounter in order to ease some pressure off of his shoulders.
