Sunderland are without a win in their first ten Premier League games.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Sunderland midfielder Adnan Januzaj has echoed Jermain Defoe’s calls for the squad to stick together.

The Black Cats have endured a disastrous start to the campaign, going without a win in their first ten games of the season.

That is the worst start ever made by a team in the history of the Premier League and leaves them sitting bottom of the table, eight points from safety already.

It is fair to say that heads are down at the Stadium of Light at this moment in time, with serious questions being asked about this current squad and their ability.

A divided camp will not help them escape and Januzaj has urged his teammates to stick together.

“It is important that we stick together and try to stay upbeat,” he told the Chronicle.

“Everyone has to work for each other, and as long as we do that, I think we will be fine. We have to stay positive and keep believing. We are professionals, so we have to believe we can turn this around.”

The Belgian midfielder has also admitted his frustration at being unable to help his team during his recent injury spell.

He made a bright start to life in the North East after arriving from Manchester United but an injury picked up in the defeat to Crystal Palace saw him miss four games before returning against Arsenal.

It is fair to say he was sorely missed and he admits it has been tough for him.

“It has been tough for me,” he added.

“It is never easy to have to watch from the sidelines. It is not an easy time at the moment, but everyone is sticking together.”
