Speaking on The Athletic Football Podcast, David Ornstein has shared what he knows about Arsenal and their ongoing interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The Everton striker has long been linked with Arsenal, but after a rather poor season for the Toffees, it seems as though the Gunners’ interest has subsided slightly.
However, there may be another twist in this tale. According to Ornstein, Arsenal are keeping an eye on Everton’s relegation status as a cut-price move could be on the table this summer if the Merseyside club go down.

Ornstein spoke about Calvert-Lewin.
“They will have alternative options. They don’t want to put all of their eggs in the Jesus basket and they may need more. One player they have admiration for is Dominic Calvert-Lewin, we’ve reported that before, and they will be monitoring closely what happens at Everton, and he does have admirers at the Emirates Stadium,” Ornstein said.
Could be a bargain
Calvert-Lewin hasn’t had the best season of his career by any stretch of the imagination, but he’s still an England international who could prove to be an absolute bargain if Everton go down.
Let’s face facts, Everton may be in financial dire straits if they are relegated, and a fire sale will have to happen if that eventuality occurs.
Calvert-Lewin may be a prized asset, but when you’re strapped for cash, you may have to take what you can get.
If Everton go down, Arsenal would be wise to re-ignite their interest in the striker.
