Joe Rodon has hailed Sergio Ramos as his idol, amid rumours that he could be on Tottenham Hotspur’s wishlist for the summer.
Speaking to Tottenham’s official Twitch channel in a question and answer session, Rodon was asked who his footballing hero was growing up.
And the £11 million Spurs summer signing (Goal) suggested that the Real Madrid centre-back was a player who he has always looked up to.
“Coming through the latter stages of the academy I always looked towards Sergio Ramos,” Rodon said.
“Just obviously he was in the same position and everything he’s accomplished and the way he plays, I admired him, and really enjoyed watching him.”
The rumours that Tottenham could actually look to sign Ramos at the end of the season may, therefore, excite Rodon more than most.
The London Evening Standard suggested just a couple of months ago that Tottenham could make an unlikely move for Ramos, with his contract running down.

The 34-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and he still hasn’t penned new terms.
Tottenham, of course, could have difficulties paying Ramos’s wages – which makes the transfer look unlikely.
But with Mourinho’s side surely on the look out for a central defender, few could offer Tottenham more experience and quality than Ramos, if he was to arrive.
