Pat Nevin has lauded the career of James Milner and stated that the Liverpool midfielder is ‘admired everywhere’ after he made his 600th Premier League appearance on Saturday.
Liverpool beat Southampton 3-1 at Anfield, with Milner coming off the bench and Nevin adding that the 36-year-old can play ‘just about any position’, as he told BBC Sport.
Against the Saints, Milner replaced 19-year-old Harvey Elliott in the middle of the park, but on previous occasions, he has been deployed in the fullback area by Jurgen Klopp.

From donning the colours of his boyhood club at Leeds United to winning the European Cup with Liverpool, it has been some career for the multiple Premier League title-winner and he is still going.
Nonetheless, upon hitting number 600 on the Premier League stage, former Chelsea star Nevin was full of praise for Milner and his career.
“James Milner is so admired everywhere in the game,” said Nevin. “His attitude is absolutely perfect. He can almost play just about any position in the game.
“He almost never ever lets any team he is playing for down, be it for England or any of his club teams.
“A fantastic professional, 600 club games and then add all of the cup games on top of that. It’s been one hell of a career.”

WHAT NEXT FOR MILNER?
It will be interesting to see if Milner continues on at Liverpool beyond this season because it seems as though there will be some kind of rebuild by Klopp.
From Naby Keita to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, some sort of refreshment will happen, but will Milner be one of those making way?
Well, whatever happens with the versatile star, he would easily be able to land a Premier League gig given the qualities he still has in his locker, but most importantly, the high volume of experience.
