Atletico Madrid and Arsenal fans reacted on Twitter to Lucas Torreira’s impactful cameo appearance from the bench in the Champions League last night.
The 24-year-old, who is on loan at Atletico from Arsenal, helped his side to a 3-2 win against RB Salzburg.
When Torreira entered the fray for the final eight minutes of the game, his team were level at 2-2.
But his arrival, along with Thomas Lemar’s, changed the course of the game towards the direction of the home team, who scored three minutes later and ended up walking away with the points.
Some fans pointed out how the combative midfielder is enjoying playing Champions League football away from North London.
It’s a competition which those at Arsenal are craving for once again, but it seems as though they have to resort to watching their players out on loan play in that competition for the time being.
During his days at Arsenal, Torreira’s form and game time began to fade away and he didn’t have the impact that he would have liked.
But it seems he is showcasing in small parts what he should have done at the Emirates in Spain and it will be interesting to see how the rest of the season pans out for him.
