Taarabt is reportedly looking to return to the Championship, while Leeds ace Samu Saiz is set to leave.

Samu Saiz is said to be on the brink of a move to Spanish side Getafe from Leeds United, and Marcelo Bielsa simply has to enter the January transfer window and replace the playmaker – and a reportedly available Benfica man would be ideal.

Multiple reports have suggested 27-year-old Saiz is homesick and wants to return to Spain, with Getafe said to be interested in returning him to his home country.

A favourite among Leeds fans, Saiz’s skill, speed and creativity has wowed Elland Road in his 58 league and cup appearances since joining the club in the summer of 2017 from Huesca.

Losing him is a blow to Leeds, despite him only being an impact player from the bench of late. A replacement is a must despite Bielsa’s recently telling press that he would not look to bring in any players – unless desperate.

Selling Saiz makes it a situation in which Bielsa has to recruit, and he should look no further than former QPR and Tottenham Hotspur magician Adel Taarabt. Portuguese outlet Record claim the Moroccan want a Championship return.

The Benfica star has failed to play for the Portuguese giants even once since joining the club from QPR in 2015. He was loaned to Serie A side Genoa last season, where he had a hand in seven goals during his 29 appearances.

Now 29 years of age, the report claims he wants a return to England’s second tier, and QPR are said to be keen on bringing him back to Loftus Road where Steve McClaren has reignited the London-based side.

Taarabt has an excellent record in the Championship, scoring 27 goals and creating 32 more in his 92 second-tier appearances. He even has 17 caps for African county Morocco.

If Leeds are to lose Saiz, surely adding a player like Taarabt would soften the blow – and prove a blessing in disguise.
