Leeds United are set to invest in the January transfer window.

Garry Monk has told BBC Radio Leeds that Leeds United are already aware of the players that he wants to sign in the January transfer window.

Monk has held discussions with Leeds’ board, suggesting which players he wants to add to his squad at the next opportunity.

And the 37-year-old is confident that Leeds will have the money to sign some new recruits when the transfer window reopens.

“I’ve had preliminary discussions with the club,” he admitted. “We would like to strengthen and we do need to strengthen. It will only be someone that will help the group, and I’m conscious of that.

“The club are aware of what I feel the group needs and I’m sure we’ll work, like we did in the summer, as hard as we can, that anything we can do to help the squad we’ll do it.”

Leeds did some encouraging business last summer, with the likes of Kyle Bartley, Pontus Jansson and Eunan O’Kane all proving to be good additions.

Leeds are now in fourth place in the Championship table, and there is optimism building around Elland Road.

With the potential of playing Premier League football now a real possibility for Leeds next season, Monk is expected to be back with funds in January.

Leeds are already known to be attempting to make the loan deals of Jansson and Hernandez permanent, and it is likely that some fresh faces will also be brought in at Elland Road.
