Jermain Defoe scored twice for Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers today.

Jermain Defoe is one of the best strikers around and is a natural goalscorer, and the Rangers star once again showed his class and quality on Sunday afternoon.
The Bournemouth-owned striker did not start for Rangers in their Scottish Premiership game against St. Johnstone away from home, but the 36-year-old came on as a substitute.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United star scored in the 88th minute and then just two minutes goals to make it 4-0.
Charlie Adam was following the match, and the 33-year-old Reading midfielder was impressed with Defoe’s second goal for Rangers.
The Scottish midfielder started his professional club football career at Rangers and played for the Ibrox club until 2009.
Interestingly, back in November 2018, Adam suggested that he was open to joining Rangers in January 2019, as quoted in The Daily Record.
The win against St. Johnstone means that Rangers are now three points behind bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic in second place the Scottish Premiership table.
Former Rangers striker Billy Dodds was also impressed with Defoe, and told BBC Sport: “When a player with the quality Defoe has gets in the box with the ball then there’s usually only one outcome. He’s that type of player that can absolutely ruin you.”
Meanwhile, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has said that there will be no problem in signing players in the January transfer window if the club are unable to find a new Director of Football following the departure of Mark Allen from his role.
Gerrard told The Daily Record: “I’m sure there are things happening in the background and if the club decide, yes, they definitely want to replace Mark, I’m sure that will happen. But if we have to tackle January without one, I’m sure I would be fine.”
