Newcastle United are said to be considering making a move for Bristol City’s Adam Webster.

Newcastle are said to be want Webster to strengthen their defence, but the signing would be non-sensical.
If there is one position where Newcastle are very well stocked it is at centre-back.
The Magpies already have Jamaal Lascelles, Florian Lejeune, Federico Fernandez and Fabian Schar who can all play in the heart of their defence, meaning their defensive options rival most sides in England.

Newcastle’s strongest part of their team is at centre-back, and although Webster is a talent, Rafael Benitez’s side need to pass up the chance to sign him.
Webster has impressed at Championship level, but whether he would be an improvement on what Newcastle already have at centre-back is very much up for debate.
Newcastle also don’t have unlimited funds to spend this summer, and will need to be smart with their recruitment plans.
And bringing in another central defender would be a completely unnecessary move for the Magpies.
