Adam v Bale – Watch the ‘coward’ tackle everybody is talking about

Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale has branded Liverpool’s Charlie Adam a ‘coward’ for fouling him from behind in a pre-season friendly.

A few people would have found it ironic if Bale was injured playing in pre-season for Tottenham after he pulled out of Great Britain’s Olympic squad due to ‘injury’ only to recover.

Even so, this tackle from Charlie Adam was not a good one, and certainly not one befitting a pre-season ‘friendly’ – when the two sides met in Baltimore, USA at the weekend.

Tottenham were incensed, with Andre Villas-Boas threatening to report Adam to the FA. Bale too last night hit out at the Scotsman, branding him a ‘coward’.

He added that Adam was yet to apologise, insisting the Liverpool midfielder was out to get him. Watch the tackle below.

It is not the first time the players have clashed. Adam fouled Bale at White Hart Lane when playing for Blackpool, forcing the Welsh winger out, snapping his ankle ligaments. You can watch that one here too.

What are your views on the tackle? Is Bale right to be so angry?
