Conor Shaughnessy has signed a new contract with Leeds United.

Shaughnessy has signed a new four-year contract with Leeds which will see him remain at Elland Road until 2021.
The 21-year-old, who can operate as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder, joined the Leeds Academy in September of last year.

The youngster was hugely impressive for the Whites’ Under-23 side last season and is now part of the senior team.
The former Republic of Ireland Under-18 international has already made three appearances in the Championship for Leeds this season, two of them as starts.
Leeds Academy manager Underwood has praised Shaughnessy, and is pleased to see the youngster make the step-up to the senior team and sign a new contract.

“I’m delighted for Conor, he is a hardworking, talented and versatile footballer who has an excellent attitude and work ethic,” Underwood told Leeds’s official website.
“He impressed everyone at the academy from his first trial period at the club around a year ago and in the space of 12 months he has established himself with our U23s and moved up to represent the first team.”
“Conor can act as another example to all the young lads in our academy system as well as a reminder that Leeds United is a club that makes promoting young players into the first team a priority,” added Underwood.
Leeds will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Ipswich Town at Elland Road in the Championship.
