Sheffield Wednesday star Adam Reach has spoken highly of his teammate Barry Bannan to The Yorkshire Post ahead of the match against Bristol City.

Bannan missed Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion at the Hillsborough Stadium in the Championship on Wednesday evening due to suspension.

The 28-year-old midfielder, though, is available for the Owls’ league fixture against City away from home this afternoon.

Reach, who can operate as a left-back or as a left-winger, has spoken highly of his Wednesday teammate and Scotland international midfielder Bannan.

The 25-year-old told The Yorkshire Post about Bannan: “He is always a miss. I don’t think we have actually got a good record when he doesn’t play. West Brom showed just how important he is.

“He would have helped us control the game a lot more. He is very tenacious, gets tackles in, breaks up play and he is a leader on the pitch.

“He coaches players and gives players advice. We missed Baz, but he will be back on Sunday and I am sure he will bring his quality to the team.”

Quality footballer

Bannan is one of the best midfielders in the Championship and has been a key figure for Wednesday over the past few years.

The Scotland international midfielder has scored two goals and provided one assist in 10 Championship appearances for the Owls so far this season, according to WhoScored.

Wednesday are 13th in the Championship table at the moment with 16 points from 11 matches, just two points behind sixth-placed Brentford.
