Bolton Wanderers chairman Ken Anderson has confirmed the club has been placed in administration.

He told the club’s official website that his efforts to reach an agreement over a loan owed to finance company BluMarble had been unsuccessful.

SkySports report that Bolton now face the possibility of a points deduction and transfer embargo.

BluMarble have been pursuing the winding up order against Bolton for more than a year over the unpaid loan.

Former Bolton Wanderers striker Adam Le Fondre has reacted to express his sadness at the situation.

Le Fondre began the season at Bolton before making a move to Australia to play for Sydney FC.

Bolton had actually begun the season well, despite having been tipped as relegation battlers prior to the campaign.

After six games they are in eighth position, with only one league defeat.
