Adam Forshaw shares the hilarious moment he realised how big Leeds United is

Adam Forshaw moved to Leeds United from Middlesbrough in 2018, and he has now grown into a top-quality and reliable player.

Adam Forshaw has hilariously stated that he realised just how big Leeds United is when supporters, in their large numbers, reacted angrily to the infamous badge change.

Midfielder Forshaw joined Leeds from Middlesbrough during the January 2018 transfer window, and during that period the club was hoping to change their club crest.

But when they released their finalised badge after months of research, the reaction it got from supporters was one of anger, as they ended up scrapping the idea in the end, as reported by The Independent.

All of that can now be seen in a more hilarious light, as Forshaw told Talking Shutt that there was ‘so much uproar’ about the decision, and the scale of reaction would not have been seen at his previous clubs.

On how quickly he realised how big of a club Leeds United is: “The big one was when I signed and they were going through the changing of the badge,” Forshaw laughed.

“Honestly, at the time it got so many dislikes [on social media] or whatever it was, it was going to go to the House of Commons or something. At that time, I thought ‘WOW, there’s so much uproar with this’.

“You wouldn’t have had that many people do it at the other clubs I played for, the likes of Wigan and Boro’s, no disrespect, but it’s just is the size of the fanbase. That was, at the time and as I went on getting the chance to play at Elland Road and going from there, you just gradually realise the size of the club.”

Given that Leeds recently celebrated their 100^th birthday, it is something that they could have looked back on and written in their history books with a little smile and relief that it didn’t go through.

Nonetheless, Forshaw would have been pleased that he did make the switch from the Riverside to Elland Road because he has now experienced playing for arguably the biggest club outside of the top-tier.

It can become even better for the senior man if he can help Marcelo Bielsa’s side earn promotion to the Premier League this season, as they currently sit just outside of the relegation zone.
