Robbie Gotts has come through the academy at Leeds United and he will be hoping to be another player who thrives under Marcelo Bielsa.
Adam Forshaw has waxed-lyrical about the quality Robbie Gotts has in his locker as he stated that the Leeds defender has ‘so much ability’, but admitted that he is ‘unfortunate’ not to make his senior debut yet.
Gotts will be hoping for some first-team minutes for Leeds as the fixture list piles up, as he would be an unknown figure to those outside of Elland Road, and perhaps amongst his own fans too.
Under Marcelo Bielsa anything is possible, and whilst Gotts has had to wait for his turn, a debut for the highly-rated youngster is only around the corner with the Argentine in charge.
Speaking to TalkingShutt, Forshaw stated that Gotts is ‘breaking records’ for the number of appearances he is making on the bench without being given a chance in the first-team.
“He hasn’t made an appearance so I’ll say, Robbie Gotts,” Forshaw told TalkingShutt. “I think he’s breaking the record for the number of appearances on the bench without getting a shirt.
“In my eyes so unfortunate not to come on or play yet. He’s got so much ability. He deserves a go, such a hard competitor when you train up against him. I think he’ll have a decent career.”
Leeds United getting knocked out of the EFL Cup early on in the competition didn’t help Bielsa’s cause because he wasn’t then able to see what’s behind the first-team picture.
But the likes of Kalvin Phillips, who is now more experienced, Jack Clarke from the previous campaign, and Jamie Shackleton, are examples of players that Gotts can follow.
This is a long and gruelling season, and Leeds have a small squad, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Gotts is putting on the shirt for the Whites this season.
