Adam Forshaw is not expecting an easy time trying to get back into the Leeds United side thanks to Mateusz Klich.
In comments reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Adam Forshaw has admitted that he cannot expect to come back into the Leeds side as Mateusz Klich continues his current run of form, and suggested that Klich himself would not have expected to prove such a crucial player for Marcelo Bielsa’s side at this stage of the season.
Forshaw is yet to make an appearance this term after sustaining an injury in the latter stages of pre-season, but the Yorkshire Evening Post reports that he is edging back towards full fitness.
At the start of the season, it appeared nailed on that Forshaw would play in that midfield role that Klich has thrived in. But with the Poland international enjoying easily his best spell since arriving at Elland Road, the former Middlesbrough man conceded that he will have to bide his time before he gets to make his first appearance of the campaign.
“He’ll be the first one to say that he probably wasn’t going to play at the start of the season but he’s took his chance with both hands. Ultimately it only increases the standard of the whole squad.
“Don’t get me wrong, I want to play every week but if I’m sat there waiting in the wings it can only be a good thing for the team.”
As Forshaw alluded to, it is a massive boost for Leeds to have a team with enough quality that means that Forshaw can return from injury and only expect to make the bench.
And Bielsa will be hoping that Forshaw’s potentially-imminent return to training is exactly what Klich needs after such an inspired start. Klich will know that a change will be simple to make if his standards drop, and having been sidelined for much of his Leeds spell, that will surely be something that the midfielder will desperately want to avoid.
