Leeds United are impressing under Marcelo Bielsa, and have become a legitimate contender for promotion back to the Premier League.

The Whites have lost just once in the Championship this term, and sit third in the table, just one point off West Bromwich Albion in second and two points off league leaders Sheffield United.

Leeds’ attractive brand of attacking football under Bielsa has attracted plaudits, but one concern has cropped up from Leeds fans, opposition supporters and pundits on a number of occasions.

There is a belief that, due to the energy needed to play in Bielsa’s all-action, high-tempo, high-pressing style, Leeds will have players burning out in the second half of the season.

It’s a fair assessment, as we have seen players at other clubs suffer that exact fate over the years, and Bielsa’s style may be a real change for Whites players.

We will only really know if the idea is correct in the second half of the campaign, but one Leeds player has addressed the concerns head on.

Leeds midfielder Adam Forshaw has spoken to The Mirror, and has suggested that he disagrees with the claims, as recovery will be important to all players, whilst adding that everybody at Elland Road looks after themselves well enough to cope with the rigours of playing under Bielsa.

“We’re fit and we’re scoring a lot of late goals,” said Forshaw. “We did it against Brentford, Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall. A lot has been said about us possibly tiring, but if you recover well, then there’s no reason why we can’t keep up this standard and intensity.”

“We’re professional in how we look after ourselves. We’ve shown no signs of letting up yet, so I don’t think that will happen,” he added.
