Leeds United will be hoping to move back into the automatic places when they take on Birmingham City on Saturday.
Adam Forshaw is excited by the prospect that Leeds United are hoping to expand Elland Road if they earn promotion to the Premier League, as he thinks it ‘makes sense’.
Managing Director Angus Kinnear shared the plan is to increase Elland Road to 50,000, as he wants Leeds to be turned into a ‘true ground’ which can compete with Europe’s elite, as quoted by The Yorkshire Evening Post.
Before any of that can happen, players such as Forshaw, who arrived at the club in 2018 for £5 million from Middlesbrough [BBC Sport], will have to deliver the goods on the pitch.
If they can do that then the rewards will be there for all to see, as Forshaw told Sky Sports News (17/10/2019 4:35 pm) that it’s about time a club the size of Leeds is doing something like this.
On writing the next chapter in Leeds’ history: “There is a little pressure there because of the size of the club,” Forshaw told Sky Sports News. “We are relishing it and hopefully we can go on and create more history for the club.
On 50k Elland Road plans: “It would be great. As a player, you just want to perform on the pitch as much as possible. It makes sense really given the size of the club. We sell out pretty much every week. We also have such great away support also. And it makes sense.”
Leeds celebrated their 100th birthday on Thursday, and they will be hoping to top it all off by securing all three points against Birmingham City at the weekend.
Defeat would put a dampener on things and it could also result in Leeds dropping out of the top-six places in the Championship, but three points could see them move into the top-two.
Either way, it is pretty tight and congested in the top half of the Championship table, as only four points separate Charlton in 10th and West Brom, who are sitting top of the tree.
