Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka reportedly wants to bring Middlesbrough’s Adam Clayton to the City Ground.

Karanka has tended to operate with a 4-2-3-1 system since taking charge at the City Ground, and looks to be setting his team to work in that formation next term.

And if Clayton is added to Forest’s squad, then the Reds could have one of the toughest-tackling midfield combinations in the Championship.
With Liam Bridcutt already at Forest, Karanka already has one effective midfield enforcer in his squad, and Clayton would only make the Reds more defensively resilient.

Clayton is a tireless worker, who never can be accused of lacking the heart for a tackle.
And with Bridcutt and Clayton in Forest’s squad, the City Ground crowd could rest assured that they wouldn’t be losing any midfield battles through a lack of physicality next season.
