Newcastle United-owned Blackburn Rovers striker Adam Armstrong has told The Lancashire Telegraph that he is not thinking about his future at the moment.

Armstrong joined Blackburn in League One on loan from Premier League side Newcastle in the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old striker has been in superb form for Rovers so far and has won the League One player of the month for February.

The former England Under-20 international scored four goals in five starts during February, as Blackburn are at the top of the League One table at the moment.

Armstrong told The Lancashire Telegraph: “I still have two years left at Newcastle so we will see what happens in pre-season when I go back there. I’m getting my head down at the minute and giving my all for Blackburn.”

Mature comments

Armstrong’s comments about his future are mature and make perfect sense, especially as there is still a few weeks left in the season.

The striker is hugely talented, and there is certainly time for him to break into the Newcastle first team.

What the 21-year-old needs at this stage of his career is regular playing time, and he is getting exactly that at Blackburn in League One at the moment.
