‘Actually worked’: Some Real Madrid fans react to Gareth Bale’s Tottenham claim

Real Madrid fans have reacted on Twitter to Gareth Bale claiming that returning to Tottenham last season made him ‘happier’, as he told his pre-match press conference ahead of Wales v Belarus.

The 32-year-old spent a season-long loan at Tottenham during the last campaign, and despite not starting on a regular basis, he was a lot more effective and productive than his minutes suggested.

In 20 Premier League games, in which ten of them were only starts, the Welshman scored 11 goals and supplied two assists in Tottenham colours (transfermarkt).

It was an impressive outing from Bale given that he hardly played, Jose Mourinho was being criticised a lot for his tactics, and in the end, he was sacked before the conclusion of the season. 

And now Bale has opened up about returning to North London and how it was a ‘break’ that he needed and he knew it was a ‘good environment’ for him to be in.

Real Madrid fans have offered a mixed reaction to Bale’s claims and they are now hoping he proves his worth in their colours now.

To be honest, not many would have probably expected Bale to be donning Madrid colours once again, but he finds himself in that situation.

Carlo Ancelotti’s return to the Bernabeu has helped and the Welshman has started all three games in La Liga so far this term.

There might just be the possibility that the four-time Champions League winner could get back into the good books of the Madrid fans because he hasn’t exactly seen eye-to-eye with the club’s supporters over the years.
