Speaking to ESPN, Steve Nicol has been speaking about Antonio Conte’s future, claiming that he doesn’t think he’ll walk away from Tottenham.

The Italian is known to be a bit of a stickler when it comes to getting his own way at a football club, and he’s never been afraid to walk away when things aren’t going his way.

In wake of Spurs’ recent form, many have expressed concern about Conte potentially stepping away from Tottenham, but Nicol believes he’s spotted a sign that he’ll be staying on.

Indeed, the Liverpool legend says that he listened to an interview where Conte spoke about rebuilding Spurs, claiming that the language he used made it seem as though he will be staying for the foreseeable future.

What’s been said?

Nicol gave his view on Conte’s future.

“No, I think he’ll stay. I actually listened to an interview he did where he said he was going to rebuild this team, he was talking about how his job is to rebuild Tottenham from the team that played in the Champions League final and how they need rebuilding. When someone is talking about rebuilding, you know that he’s looking to the future, so he’ll be at Tottenham this time next year. I expect Tottenham to spend money this summer, no question,” Nicol said.

Won’t quit

It’s hard to see Conte quitting Spurs so quickly.

Yes, he’s a manager that’s hard to please, but Spurs haven’t let him down so far.

He was backed in January, with Spurs making two signings, and as Nicol says, it’s expected that the London club will spend heftily in the summer.

Conte knew the challenge he was taking on when he arrived, so it’s hard to see him ditching Tottenham so quickly after arriving.
