Arsenal fans were unhappy at the news that Manchester City’s Phil Foden was named Young PFA Player of the Year on Sunday.
Foden helped Manchester City lift the Premier League title and win the League Cup in a season where he took his game to another level for his boyhood club.
But with Arsenal’s teenager thriving in North London, some feel he was hard done after being snubbed of the individual award.
Whilst Foden played in a thriving team packed with talent, Saka had to deal with an Arsenal side in decline and senior players struggling to sort their own game out.
Yet, during Arsenal’s struggles, it was their academy product who stood tall and put the weight of the club on his shoulders and drove them forward.
On paper, Arsenal may have produced a pretty abject campaign by finishing outside of the European places, but one man stood tall above that mess.
And it has to be questioned where Arsenal would be without their versatile player and what Saka would be able to produce if he was playing for a Man City.
But Saka shouldn’t be the only one feeling hard done by yesterday because Mason Mount has probably had a better campaign than most.
Along with helping Chelsea finish fourth, Mount also helped Thomas Tuchel’s men beat Man City in the Champions League final, with the Englishman providing the pin-point threaded through ball which led to the only goal of the game.
Nonetheless, this is what Arsenal fans had to say about Foden winning the Young PFA Player of the Year award:
