Liverpool have progressed into the final of the Carabao Cup.

Jurgen Klopp’s outfit beat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium tonight to advance into the showpiece at Wembley, where they’ll face Chelsea.

Diogo Jota scored twice for Liverpool on a night where the Gunners would’ve been relatively fancied to book a date with the West Londoners.

That’s because Mikel Arteta’s side secured a heroic 0-0 draw at Anfield last week in the first leg, despite having 10 men for 65 minutes.

However, Liverpool were drastically better than their hosts tonight and Jota, with a brace, is the player earning the majority of the plaudits.

But fans of the Merseyside club have been gushing over Roberto Firmino, despite the Portugal international’s double.

It was a brilliant flick from Firmino – a £29 million signing in 2015 – which opened up Arsenal’s midfield, leading to Trent Alexander-Arnold setting up the former Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker to open the scoring in the first half.

Being Brazilian, Firmino has treated supporters to this kind of skill before.

Here’s what Liverpool supporters are saying on Twitter about the moment:

Impressive

When you consider that the German manager was missing two of his best players – Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah – this is a mightily impressive victory.

Yes, Arsenal weren’t exactly boasting a full compliment of available players either, but they were arguably closer to full strength than their visitors.

This only illustrates that if Liverpool can pull of victories like this without Salah and Mane – who are at the Africa Cup of Nations – then it makes you wonder how effective they’ll be next month and beyond.
