Accrington Stanley were beaten convincingly by Sunderland in a League One clash on Wednesday.
Accrington Stanley owner Andy Holt has taken to Twitter to react to Sunderland’s emphatic 3-0 victory on Wednesday night that has taken Jack Ross’ men up to third in the League One table.
The Black Cats were looking to bounce back from their agonising Checkatrade Trophy defeat at the weekend. And it was one of their stars of the show at Wembley that kicked off the scoring at the Crown Ground.
Aiden McGeady broke the deadlock after four minutes with a strike from outside the box. And Sunderland would largely kill the game off in stoppage-time at the end of the first-half with Will Grigg doubling the lead.
Spurs loanee Kazaiah Sterling completed the scoring later on in the second-half as he showed his composure to finish off a good move for the promotion-chasers.
The win lifted Sunderland above Portsmouth in the table. And more importantly, the Black Cats are just three points off the top two with two games in hand over Barnsley. Meanwhile, Accrington remain two points above the relegation zone.
And after the game, Holt took to social media to comment on the result and it is clear that he had few complaints with the scoreline as he praised Sunderland’s ability in front of goal.
