Wolverhampton Wanderers have long been linked with a move for Portugal striker Andre Silva, but have Galatasaray just got themselves into pole position?

Reports linking Wolverhampton Wanderers with Andre Silva date far back into early 2018, with the Mirror suggesting that the club had serious interest in the AC Milan striker.

It seems like an ambitious pursuit for Wolves, considering Silva signed with Milan a year ago for £34million.

But Milan’s sporting director, Massimo Mirabelli, confirmed a little over a week ago that an offer had been made, and that it was being considered along with one from Galatasaray.

Now, however, reports in Turkey from Fanatik suggest that Galatasaray have reached an agreement with Milan for a loan deal and that they are just trying to convince the player.

If Wolves are still interested – and it seems that they are from Mirabelli’s comments – then they need to act fast.

The report from Fanatik claims that the Turkish giants are yet to convince Silva himself that a move to Turkey is the right one, leaving Wolves with an opportunity to show him why joining their Portuguese contingent in England is best at this stage of his career.

Silva would surely find a natural home at Wolves among so many compatriots, but Galatasaray’s loan offer will be difficult to beat. Fanatik’s report suggests that there will be no option for a permanent deal, thus allowing Milan to avoid giving up on their large investment so soon.

Mirabelli’s comments from a week ago suggest they are hesitant to do just that. Loaning him out would give them another year to decide while allowing him regular first-team football.

If Wolves want a permanent deal, Milan might be the ones who need the most convincing, but there is still time.
