Rumours that Marko Arnautovic could be leaving West Ham United are beginning to circulate again.

His brother, who also acts as his agent, has openly spoke about the potential of making a ‘step up’ from the Hammers – and that’s got to worry the fans.

“He’s already playing in the Premier League and that’s where the best players are,” said Danijel Arnautovic, reports the Mirror. “But for a player like Marko this cannot be the end. He’s a big part of West Ham’s team but I think it’s possible to tease out more of him.

“For that to happen, he has to play for a top team. Marko is ready for the next step. A player like him should not play against relegation. He should play for the international spots.”

Keeping a player who perhaps wants to move away is never an easy decision but it is surely vital that West Ham avoid selling a player who has become key for them.

Arnautovic’s form over the second half of last year pulled the team away from relegation and he’s played the role of talisman ever since.

Last summer’s spending makes it vital that he’s kept – after making so many changes to the squad, this season was always likely to be one of adjustment, learning, and transition.

If West Ham then go ahead and sell a key player, next season could end up being very much the same and that basically defeats the point of investing so much money.

You make that much change because you want to take several steps forward – but selling arguably your key player would prevent you from doing just that.
