Former Chelsea midfielder Ramires could easily be sold on West Ham project after links with Inter Milan.

Ramires, the former Champions League winning Chelsea midfielder, has found himself in a strange situation in China’s Super League.

Despite being on a reported £200,000-a-week, the Brazilian hasn’t featured in a single minute of the eleven league games his team, Jiangsu Suning, have played this season.

It’s difficult to imagine that’s down to Ramires not being good enough considering he was an important player for Jiangsu last season, and it’s likely because of his open desire to return to Europe.

“It’s not all down to me, but I’d be very happy to return to Europe,” he said in January. “I hope an agreement can be reached with Inter [Milan].

“It would be a great moment for me and my family. I’ll be ready – if it does happen.”

Ramires has been linked strongly with Inter, going as far as his agent openly admitting that his client would like to move to Italy and that a dialogue is probable.

But Inter shouldn’t get a free run at the 31-year-old here – West Ham should try and convince the player to move back to London.

The player would add energy and plenty of experience to the Hammers’ midfield – two things becoming increasingly needed given Cheikhou Kouyaté’s drop in form and questions over Mark Noble’s ability to keep up in the Premier League.

We saw last season how Paulinho, a player who went to China with a poor reputation, came back to Europe and shone with Barcelona and there’s no reason why Ramires couldn’t fill a hole at West Ham and, potentially, give them a high-quality player.

He knows the city, he knows the league, and he helps a problem position; it’s a risk, for sure, but one worth taking if West Ham are serious about making waves in the Premier League next season.
