The Hornets’ captain feels that a potential partnership with Gray can flourish at Watford this season.

Watford didn’t have the most exciting of transfer windows this summer, making a £22m profit after the sale of Richarlison to Everton.
They did make Gerard Deulofeu’s loan move a permanent one for just under £12m, while Ben Foster returned to the club permanently on a free transfer, but the rest of the signings were gambles under £5m.
One noticeable detail of their transfer business is the lack of a recognised striker – something of a surprise after none of their forwards managed more than six goals last season.
But captain Troy Deeney believes the potential is already there for improvement in that regard thanks to a growing partnership with Andre Gray.
To begin with, however, he acknowledges that Javi Gracia must give them the chance.

“Hopefully we can play more together, but ultimately it is the manager’s decision,” said Deeney, reports the Watford Observer.
“If he decides to play us together, we have to go out there, win games and make it impossible for us to be dropped.”
Although the two goals came from Roberto Pereyra, the duo looked impressive in Watford’s 2-0 win over Brighton on Saturday and Deeney feels last season showed there is a lot more to come from the partnership.
The next opportunity for Deeney and Gray to show what they can do will be away at Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
