Reports in Italy claim that AS Roma could soon trigger the release clause of Boca Junior’s Cristian Pavon.

Corriere Dello Sport is reporting that AS Roma are interested in trigger the release clause of Argentine winger Cristian Pavon.

Pavon, who made his professional debut with CA Talleres before joining Boca Juniors in 2014, went to the World Cup with Argentina this summer and would seemingly be an ideal alternative for Roma after their bid for Malcom fell through.

But should Tottenham Hotspur rival the Italians for Pavon?

Spurs have struggled in their pursuit of further pace up front this summer, seeing their interest in Anthony Martial and Wilfried Zaha rebuffed by Manchester United and Crystal Palace respectively.

The report suggests, however, that Pavon could be purchased for a fee in the range of €35 million plus a percentage of a future sale – or at least that’s what Roma are led to believe.

The 22-year-old certainly has a release clause, although the club hasn’t revealed what that is, but anything in that range should alert Spurs to a player of significant ability and potential.

(R-L) Lionel Messi of Argentina and Cristian Pavon of Argentina arrive prior a training session at Stadium of Syroyezhkin sports school on June 27, 2018 in Bronnitsy, Russia.

Mauricio Pochettino has specialised in developing players at Tottenham – the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Son Heung-Min, and Christian Eriksen are a testament to that – and Pavon would be the latest in that line.

Spurs are running out of time to sign a talented forward but Pavon would give them that at a price that wouldn’t take negotiation and can be easily paid – they won’t get a better option.
