Tottenham Hotspur’s reported first offer for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish looks to have cost them any chance of signing him before the transfer deadline.

Aston Villa have reportedly rejected a £25million offer from Tottenham Hotspur for midfielder Jack Grealish, according to Sky Sports.
Spurs have been linked with Grealish all summer but look to have failed in the end, unless Villa change their stance over the next 24 hours.
It is new owner and executive chairman Nassef Sawiris who has intervened in the potential deal, deciding that the club simply does not need the money from selling their most valuable player.
That’s in stark contrast to former chairman Tony Xia, who Sawiris and NSWE took over from in July, where money troubles resulted in Grealish almost certainly being sold to help keep the club going.
And the Mirror is now reporting that Spurs had tried to take advantage of that situation by offering a derisory fee for the 22-year-old.

Tottenham are said to have offered just £3million and Josh Onomah, a 21-year-old who spent last season on loan at Villa Park, out of the hope that Aston Villa would be forced to accept.
They weren’t, however, and once Villa’s financial situation became better, Spurs upped their bid to £25million – only now, even that seemingly isn’t enough.
Should they have offered that earlier in the window, they would have almost certainly signed Grealish. As things stand, they’re merely going to be left with the regret of not doing so.
