Huddersfield Town are closing in on Stoke City’s Ramadan Sobhi as the club continue to go about things in the right way.

The 21-year-old joined the Potters in 2016 as a highly-rated young player but never caught fire at the Brittania as many had perhaps dreamed he would. He did, however, perform well enough to secure a five-year contract last summer.

Things have changed since, of course, with Stoke finishing 19th and being relegated from the Premier League. New manager Gary Rowett will know full well that handling all the departures of key players is the biggest job he faces this summer.
Sobhi was never an established star but he was supposed to be a bright future for Stoke – instead, he’s set to fill that role for Huddersfield.

And that’s exactly the kind of signing the Terriers should be making. Premier League survival may have been confirmed late, but that it was confirmed at all is a huge achievement. The side now goes into the 18/19 season with the confidence that they can survive in the top flight and a squad with infinitely more experience than they had a year ago.
Breaking up that unit with big money signings at huge risk is not the intelligent move here. Several value-for-money incomings who can expand the squad is key, especially with the knowledge that just 2 or 3 finding their feet quickly can make a huge impact with the right coaching.

Lile so many before him Sobhi fits the bill as a smart signing for Huddersfield.
Young, full of potential, experienced in the Premier League, and taking advantage of what will surely be a cut-price fee – Huddersfield are continuing to do things the smart way.
