Reports indicate that Napoli are looking at a move for Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet after considering Arsenal’s David Ospina.

(THE SUN OUT, THE SUN ON SUNDAY OUT) Simon Mignolet of Liverpool arrive before the Pre-Season friendly match between Liverpool and Torino at Anfield on August 7, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

The Daily Mail report that Napoli are interested in taking Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to the San Paolo this month.

The Belgian is almost certainly surplus to requirements at Anfield this season, having lost his place as the club’s first choice goalkeeper to Loris Karius at the start of the year, with recent signing Alisson Becker closing the door on Mignolet’s chances even further.

And now a move to Napoli could be in the pipeline after supposed interest from the likes of Barcelona and Besiktas.

Mignolet would be Napoli’s third new goalkeeper of the summer after deals for Udinese pair Alex Meret and Orestis Karnezis, who spent last season on loan at Watford.

Meret, who has arrived for a fee supposedly in the range of €35m, will surely be given priority by the Neapolitans, although Mignolet could be forgiven for fancying his chances of first-team football more than at Anfield.

Napoli’s interest comes after they reportedly considered a move for Arsenal’s Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina, as well as Standard Liege’s Guillermo Ochoa.

Their first choice goalkeeper last season, former Liverpool player Pepe Reina, signed for AC Milan this summer.
