Inter Milan have reportedly pulled out of a deal for Tottenham Hotspur’s Mousa Dembele but is that good news for Spurs?

Dembele has been linked with a move for a while, after deciding against renewing a contract that expires in 12 months.
It therefore makes sense that Spurs would be looking to move the player on, but in this summer of all summers, does it make a lot more sense to hold on to him?
If £20m is the fee Tottenham want, replacing Dembele would take a chunk out of their budget, especially as two of the ideal replacements in Adrien Rabiot and Jorginho are both out of reach now.
Settling for something less, and paying a premium to do so, is difficult at the best of times but this is a complicated summer even without that task.
Tottenham will likely want a central midfielder anyway after Harry Winks’ injury left them a little short last season, while their pursuit of back-up for Harry Kane enters a third summer, and a new winger is potentially incoming, too.

But, on top of that, there is the lingering worry that Real Madrid might decide to move for Kane now Cristiano Ronaldo has left, and there will surely be a new defensive signing as Toby Alderweireld searches for an exit.
There is a lot on Tottenham’s plate right now and £20million for Dembele hardly seems worth the hassle with so much needing to be handled.
He may leave for free in a year, but the extra time to prepare might very well be worth it.
