AC Milan are reportedly ready to terminate Tiemoue Bakayoko’s loan deal in January, with Newcastle United linked with a move for the Chelsea-owned midfielder earlier this year.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan plan to sort out their current loan contracts, with the Rossoneri eager to cancel Bakayoko’s two-year loan deal with Chelsea with six months remaining. As per the report, the board of the Serie A titans believe he has been ‘useless’ this season.
With zero minutes in all competitions, it’s very easy to see why Milan want to terminate Bakayoko’s loan contract. Yet despite hardly playing, interest remains in the France midfielder, with CalcioMercato reporting that Newcastle are keen to recruit the 28-year-old on the cheap.
Eddie Howe wants an experienced head to add to his midfield ranks in January. And with Bakayoko set to return to Chelsea and likely to leave west London for good at a bargain price, it makes sense why Newcastle are interested in the former AS Monaco superstar.

Whilst Bakayoko has played just over 600 minutes of football over the last two seasons, the midfielder is still a quality player who has the potential to become a star with the right system alongside the right players. And based on Newcastle’s track record under Howe, the Frenchman could make a stunning return to form.
Indeed, Milan terminating Bakayoko’s contract and sending the midfielder back to Chelsea open, Newcastle have a golden chance to sign a player who will not only be open to the Magpies’ project but who could also play a big role in the coming years for the Toon.
Newcastle should take a gamble on Bakayoko in January

Newcastle’s business since the appointment of Howe under the PIF regime has been nothing short of brilliant, with the English coach’s work with players signed before the takeover also revolutionary with the likes of Miguel Almiron and Joelinton hitting unimaginable heights. And for Bakayoko, the midfielder could experience a similar revival.
The Frenchman was one of the best players in France before his doomed £40m move to Chelsea, and for Bakayoko, the Milan loanee will want nothing more than to find a new permanent home and to return to the form that made the 28-year-old such a desired talent.
