With a deal for Bryan Mbeumo nearing completion, Manchester United can now begin to focus on other areas of need.
June has been a drawn-out month, with United spending much of it pursuing Brentford’s number 19. But after weeks of negotiation, a second bid for Mbeumo has been submitted, which crosses the £60m mark – and one that Manchester United are confident will get the deal done.
The Cameroon forward would follow Matheus Cunha, who was signed from Wolves for a similar fee, as United’s second major arrival of the summer.
With the pair having combined for 35 Premier League goals between them last season, their arrival should go a long way to resolving United’s attacking issues.
But with midfield another key area identified before the window opened, and links to various names already swirling, attention could soon turn there – and AC Milan are making moves for one of the game’s most promising young players.
AC Milan make an offer for Ardon Jashari

Midfield is a must for United, given last season’s struggles. Chris Rigg has been mentioned as a younger option, though Wolves were reluctant to let him leave.
Atalanta’s Ederson remains the top choice for United, though a deal for the Brazilian could be even costlier.
One player already excelling in Belgium is widely regarded as one of the top prospects in Europe – Ardon Jashari, the Club Brugge midfielder who won the Belgian Pro League Player of the Season award for 2024/25.
Brugge have received another offer for the Swiss midfielder, this time from AC Milan. Fabrizio Romano posted on X that Milan had sent in a bid of £21m plus another £4m in add-ons. But the Belgian club are looking for more, as several clubs are believed to be interested.
It’s reported that Brugge are hoping to start a bidding war, with English clubs also in the frame – but for now, Milan appear to be leading the race.
Casemiro’s plans may complicate United’s pursuit of Jashari
United’s planned midfield addition depends on moving Casemiro, with rumours of Saudi interest in the Brazilian this summer.

The former Real Madrid defensive midfielder is one of the most expensive players in the squad, and his potential exit would make room for new signings like Jashari.
The Swiss player has the profile to fill that gap, bringing abilities that Amorim’s midfield currently lacks.
Jashari suits a dominant, possession-based setup – a style Manchester United are hoping to implement under Amorim – and would be a proactive step toward reshaping the midfield around that philosophy.
