AC Milan are reportedly ‘tempted’ to sign Naby Keita next summer, with the Liverpool midfielder expected to leave Anfield at the end of this season following the expiration of his contract.
According to CalcioMercato, the reigning Serie A champions are keeping a close eye on the Guinean’s situation ahead of the January transfer window, with current rumours suggesting that Keita is set to depart Liverpool as a free agent in 2023.
The midfielder signed for the Reds in 2017 for a reported £52m, yet despite arriving with a huge reputation from RB Leipzig and even taking Steven Gerrard’s vacant no. 8 shirt, Keita has largely been unimpressive in the Premier League with Liverpool.
Injuries have played a massive role in Keita’s failure to impress at Liverpool, with the midfielder only managing just two seasons where the 27-year-old made 30+ appearances in all competitions. And as a result, an exit next year feels very likely.

However, interest is already high in Keita, with Milan now seemingly joining the list of clubs willing to sign the Guinea international in the summer, with the Rossoneri already adding one former Liverpool player to their squad this year in Divock Origi.
Indeed, a complete change in scenery could be what Keita needs to get his career back off the ground, with many agreeing that the Premier League isn’t suited to the midfielder’s style of play, something playing in Serie A could remedy in a big way.
Milan signing Keita could reinvent his career

Keita is clearly in need of a new adventure in football having failed to make much of an impact at Liverpool in the four years the midfielder has spent at the club. Yet Milan could provide just this in 2023 if the Rossoneri are able to agree a deal with the African superstar.
After all, Serie A is regarded as a league that is much slower than the Premier League, and for a player like Keita, this change could be exactly what’s needed to see the former Leipzig sensation return to his former best, something many football fans would love to see in 2023.
