AC Milan are reportedly ready to submit an opening offer to sign Chelsea attacker Hakim Ziyech, with the Italian giants eager to beat Tottenham to the Moroccan international’s signature.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the reigning Serie A champions will soon launch a loan bid with a €15m (£12m) option to buy clause for Ziyech, who this winter has been one of the standout players for Morocco, who have been the surprise package at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Ziyech has scored and assisted once out in Qatar as Morocco topped their group and beat Spain on penalties in the round of 16 to set up an exciting quarter-final tie with Portugal, with the North African nation being backed by seemingly every neutral to go as far as possible in the competition.

And as a result of Morocco’s performances, numerous players in the squad are now being linked with big moves in January, with Ziyech no exception as Milan now look to make an offer to finally sign the Chelsea outcast, much to the dismay and annoyance of Tottenham.

Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad recently reported that Ziyech was a target for Antonio Conte’s side. However, with the winger stealing the show at the World Cup, Milan now look ready to beat their upcoming UEFA Champions League rivals in this transfer battle.

Indeed, Ziyech’s form this winter has shown the world what the former Ajax superstar is capable of. And for Tottenham supporters, losing out on the creative magician will fell like a blow given the winger is exactly what Conte is looking for in January.

To the surprise of very few, Ziyech’s time at Chelsea didn’t go exactly to plan, with the attacker struggling for game time and form during his three-season spell in west London. Yet moving to Milan could be the catalyst that reinvents the winger’s career for the better, especially after this World Cup.

The Italian giants have been chasing Ziyech for a while, meaning that there will likely be a spot in the regular starting XI for the Moroccan superstar in 2023. And for Tottenham, they will now simply have to look elsewhere for a creative wide player.
