AC Milan may launch a shock bid for Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic, according to Swiss press sources.
Nemanja Vidic’s contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer and he has been linked with a number of European clubs in the winter window.
The Serbian international is still an important figure for manager David Moyes, but United may want to secure a fee for his departure rather than see him become a free agent.
In recent weeks there has been intense speculation surrounding Vidic’s future and Serie A sides Juventus, Napoli and Fiorentina have been tipped to make a move for him.
But now it seems that AC Milan may be ready to enter the fray with a tempting contract offer of their own.
The Rossoneri’s new coach Clarence Seedorf has breathed new life into their transfer policy and is already set to bring Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien to San Siro.
It is suggested that Milan are trying to put together a lucrative offer until 2018 that can compete with his current deal at Old Trafford.
However, whether Milan have the necessary resources remains to be seen as reports have stated that Fiorentina and Napoli have both been thwarted by his wage demands.
Manchester United may attempt to renew Vidic’s contract but reports suggest that he is unlikely to remain at the club.
