AC Milan are reportedly interested in signing RB Salzburg attacker Noah Okafor in the January transfer window, with the forward also rumoured to be on Leeds United’s radar.

According to CalcioMercto, the 22-year-old Swiss international has been on Milan’s shortlist for quite some time, yet the reigning Serie A champions could now move for the attacker in the coming weeks with Okafor’s performance catching the eye of many, with the youngster this week scoring against Chelsea.

CalcioMercato mention that Leeds are also interested in the attacker, who is currently being viewed by the Whites as an alternative to Cody Gakpo, who Jesse Marsch just missed out on in the summer transfer window. Moreover, the Salzburg star could available for cheap.

The player’s agent himself has said that Okafor could leave Salzburg for as little as £25m, a fairly good deal given the youngster’s record in all competitions this season and how young and versatile the Swiss star is, with the 22-year-old able to play out on the wing or as a lone striker.

Indeed, Leeds are in need for more firepower in their attacking line, yet with Milan now in the race, flashbacks over the transfer saga involving Charles De Ketelaere will no doubt start to reappear, with the Rossoneri famously beating Marsch to the Belgian’s signature over the summer.

Whilst De Ketelaere has struggled in Italy, there’s a strong chance that Okafor won’t follow. a similar slump given the striker’s Red Bull education and style of play, and for Leeds, they have to ensure that Milan don’t ruin their transfer plans again by signing the 22-year-old attacker.

Okafor’s stock has risen considerably this season, with the forward one of top goalscorers in the UEFA Champions League and currently guiding Salzburg to yet another Austrian Bundesliga title. And for Leeds, they simply have to beat Milan to the forward’s signature in January.

After all, Leeds need goals in their squad more than anything this January, and Okafor will provide that and then some if Marsch is able to beat Milan and other interested parties to the youngster, who could be tempted to join the Elland Road side in the winter.
