Both Alfie Mawson and Sam Clucas could be leaving Swansea City and staying in the Premier League with Burnley, according to reports.

Burnley find themselves in a unique position this summer after the heroics of Sean Dyche’s side last season.

The Clarets performed far above expectations and secured Europa League football, finishing as the ‘best of the rest’ outside of the top six.

With European football upcoming, and the financial benefits that come with it, new signings are important – but how do you do that without disrupting the team ethic that brought last year’s success?

Well, according to a report in the Daily Mail on Wednesday evening, Burnley hope to pick up both Sam Clucas and Alfie Mawon from Swansea City.

Both deals would be brilliant for Burnley, with Clucas’ versatility in midfield providing invaluable cover over what will be a longer season than the players are used to.

Mawson, on the other hand, is more than good enough to command a starting spot in the centre of defence and would further strengthen the bedrock of Dyche’s side.

It would be pricey, with Swansea reportedly wanting over £20m for Mawson alone, but would give Burnley a much-needed boost in depth through just two players.

The Mail reports that Burnley turned to the duo after being knocked back by West Bromwich Albion over Craig Dawson and Jay Rodriguez – but they might have stumbled upon a much better deal.
