Marko Grujic is wanted back on loan by Cardiff City, giving Liverpool an opportunity to learn from their mistake over Danny Ward a year ago.

Neil Warnock has openly admitted that he would like to bring Liverpool’s Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic back to Cardiff City next season.
“I think his agent, as they do, probably thinks he is going to try and make more money somewhere else,” said Warnock. “Liverpool want him to come and I think it will be good for him – I think Marco does as well.
“We will see what happens by Friday this week. I never lose sleep over targets if I am honest – I always think it’s their loss if they don’t come.”
And Liverpool are right to want to send him out, especially after failing to send Danny Ward back to Huddersfield a year ago.
Ward had enjoyed a very successful loan spell in 2016/17 that saw Huddersfield promoted via the play-offs, and the Welshman made no secret of his desire in rejoining for a second spell.
Liverpool blocked the move, however, deciding to hold on to Ward as a third-choice goalkeeper. A year of virtually no first-team football for Ward followed, and he is now reportedly set to join Leicester City imminently.

But the Reds could have gotten much more than £10million if he had been allowed to demonstrate his ability in the top flight last year. Perhaps he would have shown he can do a job for Liverpool or maybe he would just have proven himself worthy of a bigger fee, but there is no question that a year with Huddersfield would have done him good.
If Liverpool want to make the most of Grujic, a year in the Premier League is absolutely the way to go. They have got to learn from their mistake.
