Reports are linking Leicester City with a transfer for the Liverpool striker this summer.

The Liverpool Echo reported this week that Leicester City have an interest in signing Liverpool’s £20m rated striker Danny Ings.

That is a considerable amount of money for a player who has struggled badly for fitness over the past few years but, if his problems are truly behind him, he could be exactly what the Foxes are looking for.

Jamie Vardy is clearly the main man up top at Leicester and rightly so – the England man has scored 57 Premier League goals over the past three seasons – but Vardy is now 31 years old and that creates a problem as he’s not an easy man to replace.

His pace, energy, and work rate may be possible to find with relative ease but combining those attributes with a proven goalscorer is an incredibly difficult task.

Ings might be the man to do it, however; the former Burnley man, at his best, certainly has the pace and energy, while his 11 goals in his sole top-flight season at Turf Moor show that he can do it at this level.

The hope, of course, would be entirely in his ability to regain his full fitness and at 26 years old, Leicester would need to hope he does it over the next few years.

But Vardy isn’t showing signs of slowing down any time soon, allowing Ings a bit of time to find his feet, while the 21-year-old Kelechi Iheanacho further limits the risk and pressure that would be put on him.

All in all, it could be the perfect move for all parties.
