Jurgen Klopp has reportedly been integral in Grujic’s loan move from Liverpool to Hertha BSC.

Marko Grujic completed a loan move away from Liverpool on Sunday as he left for Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga.

The Serbian spent the second half of last season with Cardiff City and manager Neil Warnock certainly wanted to sign him up again this season, only for Grujic to turn them down and decide against renewing his contract with Liverpool.

Torino then had an offer rejected because Liverpool weren’t prepared to agree to a £10m option to buy.

According to a report from the Liverpool Echo, the reason Hertha are the choice for both Liverpool and Grujic are that both feel he can develop properly there – especially Jurgen Klopp.

It states that both Crystal Palace and Olympique Lyonnais were turned down over fears they wouldn’t guarantee him playing time in the middle of midfield, as Klopp believes Grujic can be part of Liverpool’s first-team plans going forward.

That’s a huge show of faith from the Liverpool boss – you’d imagine that the likes of Palace and Lyon would offer more money than Hertha but Klopp appears to see them as ideal for Grujic.

And Grujic seems to have taken it that way, too, as he’s apparently far happier signing a new deal and heading off to Germany than he was with Cardiff.

It’s obviously a league Klopp knows well and one that he clearly trusts, having put a lot of time in money into securing Naby Keita after his midfield performances in the Bundesliga.

Grujic was Klopp’s first signing and one that he certainly doesn’t want to give up on yet – if he can perform in Germany, this will have been a stroke of genius from Klopp.
