The Independent has now reported that Leicester City are currently leading the chase for Norwich City’s James Maddison.

A successful bid would be a real coup for Leicester, considering how in-demand the Norwich man is. It was merely a little over a month ago that the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City were being linked with the Canaries’ Player of the Year, but Leicester are now supposedly in pole position.

Maddison would be a strong addition to Leicester’s squad, having scored 15 goals and created another eight from midfield last season – but he may also represent the latest sign of the club’s grand plan.

At 21-years-old, Maddison is the same age as the brightest prospects at the King Power Stadium – Wilfred Ndidi, Ben Chilwell, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Demarai Gray are all 21, too and the potential for all five to develop alongside one another is genuinely exciting.

Is there a more talented group of young players at one club in the Premier League? It’s incredibly difficult to think of one. Should they bag Maddison, Leicester will have managed to create the core of their future all across the pitch – the left flank, the defensive and attacking centre of their midfield, and their striker all developing together.

And it gets more even more exciting when you consider that, according to the Telegraph, Leicester also hope to get right-winger Patrick Roberts, also 21, as part of the Riyad Mahrez to Manchester City deal.
