The Liverpool Echo reports that Everton are considering a move for French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon.

Everton have joined the race to sign Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The 21-year-old has been viewed by club scouts and the £40m valuation Lyon are said to have put on him would likely be their next consideration.
Ndombele is undoubtedly an incredibly talented player – there’s a reason Manchester City have been heavily linked, as the Echo says – but his signing would mean more than just an improvement for their side.
With so many teams hoping to sign the Frenchman, Everton bringing in one of Europe’s most exciting young players would be a statement of their top-six intent.
It has been a long time since the Toffees were able to pull off something like that – they arguably haven’t done so in the Premier League era and Ndombele would represent one of their biggest signings of modern times.
The deal for Richarlison and his subsequent success has already given them a platform; the money spent on their Brazilian was huge and the gamble paying off has only made them look like competent European challengers.

The race for Richarlison wasn’t there, however, and Ndombele would be something much different: proof that Everton can compete for truly in-demand players.
Their interest would suggest Everton feel there’s a chance of making it happen, while his transfer fee doesn’t appear to deter them.
If they can pull this off, it may not be long before we’re talking about a Premier Leauge top seven.
