Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig have reportedly offered a club-record fee for Everton’s Ademola Lookman.

The Mirror reported on Sunday evening that RB Leipzig have offered a club record £24.5million for Everton’s Ademola Lookman.

That’s still £5.5million short of the Toffee’s reported asking price but it would represent some brilliant business from the club.

Lookman is certainly a talented player and one that Everton are clearly unhappy to lose, considering their firm negotiation position.

The 20-year-old hasn’t quite stepped up for Everton the way he did for Leipzig last season, however, and he doesn’t have a key role in the side in the way that a £24.5million fee would usually suggest.

Any loss he would be to the side is purely potential at this point – and that potential isn’t as likely or as important as it used to be now that Bernard and Richarlison have joined the club.

Richarlison, in particular, is only a year older than Lookman but has already established himself in the Premier League.

Richarlison Everton celebrates his goal during the Premier League match between Everton and Southampton at Goodison Park on August 18, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

And so what Everton are faced with is the 21st largest fee in Bundesliga history, a club record for Leipzig, and the most expensive signing by any German side that isn’t Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, or Wolfsburg.

It’s a hell of a deal for a player you may never see the best of anyway – and if Everton do indeed get a little closer to that £30million figure, it will be a brilliant piece of business.
