The Toffees’ Director of Football, Marcel Brands, is reportedly just getting started with his recruitment at Goodison Park.
The Liverpool Echo reported on Thursday morning that Marcel Brands has finished his initial assessment of Everton’s scouting team and has begun making changes.
Brands arrived in the summer as Director of Football at Goodison Park, taking over from the much-maligned Steve Walsh.
The Dutchman has clearly taken something of a risk as he begins his new job, deciding to keep things relatively in place over his first transfer window in order to assess the job at hand.
This summer is looking like a tremendous success already, however, with the likes of Richarlison and Lucas Digne shining over the first few months of the season.
The fact that Brands has pulled off those deals, along with the very promising Bernard and Yerry Mina, is quite remarkable for a first window where he deliberately didn’t operate how he wanted.
Those signings were apparently just the beginning and future window will see the director work with the people he wants, with the methods he wants.
And so Brands will hopefully have more effective windows to come and, if this first one is anything to go by, that is a very exciting prospect for Everton and their fans.
