Huddersfield Town have reportedly set a price tag for Aaron Mooy, with both West Ham United and Newcastle United said to be interested.
Australian outlet The World Game report that Newcastle United and West Ham United are both interested in Huddersfield Town’s Aaron Mooy this summer.
Somewhat surprisingly, it is said that the Australian would be available for AU$26 million, or just under £15million; a relatively small fee for a player of Mooy’s quality.
Mooy signed for Huddersfield last year for an initial £8million after a very successful loan spell that saw the side promoted to the Premier League. He then enjoyed a solid debut season in the top flight, followed by a decent World Cup.
And, for a player who has proved he can handle himself at the top level, £15million seems like a bargain for many sides in the Premier League.
It depends where he would be necessary, of course, but it is difficult to think of anyone else who commands that kind of value and has Mooy’s experience.
Everton paid three times that to Swansea City a year ago for Gylfi Sigurdsson, and the swans are again reportedly seeking over £20million for Alfie Mawson, despite being relegated.
Nothing might prove that value more than having both Newcastle and West Ham interested; that a club looking to buy cheap can be interested at the same time as one that is happy to splash the cash shows exactly what great value Mooy represents.
He would be a fantastic signing for either side, and plenty of others in the Premier League.
